1. AIR POLLUTION :
The problem of pollution is engaging the attention of the sensible people in the developed as-well-as the developing countries. What do we mean by pollution?. It means contaminating the elements of air, water and earth. We are polluting the air that we breathe. The agents of air pollution are the chimney smokes and the fumes from cars and trucks. In winter there is thick smoke all over the city. As a result the people don't get enough oxygen. They develop bronchial problems or breathing trouble. Delhi alone has millions of vehicles which burn petrol or diesel. Then there are thermal power plants and factories which use coal. There is hardly any green cover left on the ridge. Trees have been felled and the public parks have turned into slums. If we don't check air pollution the day is not far when we shall have to carry oxygen cylinders to keep us alive.
2. MY MOTHERLAND :
India is my motherland. It is a country of lakes, gardens, springs and hills. She has many rivers which irrigate her vast and fertile lands. Its civilization is old as as the history of the world. My country stands for peace and freedom. It is really a beautiful and rich country. My countrymen are the bravest in the world and the women here are kind-hearted, but strong willed. I pray that no enemy may attack her borders and no citizen of hers be a victim of grief and pain. I shall be fortunate if I sacrifice my life for the safety of my motherland. It is great in peace, great in humanity and great in war. I am proud of it.

India became a Sovereign Republic on 26th January, 1950 On this day our new Constitution prepared by Constitution Committee was introduced. On this day the government was formed by the people of India according to the new Constitution. This day reminds us of the glorious past, and the dark period of the Britishers when we were not free. The President of India takes the salute of the Jawans of Army, Navy and Air Force. The Government buildings are illuminated at night.
4. Rising Prices:
Rising prices have created a grave economic situation in india. It has posed a serious threat to the stability of the society as a whole. The rise in price of essential commodities has badly affected the people of the fixed income groups and wage earners. They have to struggle hard to keep their body and soul together. When a man is unable to provide himself and his family with the barest necessities of life, he is tempted to earn money by adopting unfair means. This leads to corruption and mal-practices. So the government should take drastic steps to check the price line, otherwise it is bound to create economic explosion leading to social tension and political imbalance.

Those who are unable to offer their dues and books, they will be adjusted accordingly. It would have been the best endeavour that our school should have all the co-curricular activities and show best results in all the fields. Proper attention towards sanitation, uniform, education, morning assembly will be paid. May God cherish my dream!

I like many games like football, volleyball, tennis, cricket and hockey. But hockey is my favourite game. I have been playing hockey since my childhood. It is our national game. For over a quarter century, we have been the world champions in this game. It is the easiest game to learn. We require twenty players. On each side there are five forwards, three half backs, two full backs and one goal-keeper. It is a game of short duration. It is played for an hour and a half. One has to defend the goal post. When a player scores a goal. he becomes happy.

There are a large number of historical buildings all over India. But the Taj Mahal at Agra is the most famous among them. It is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. My ambition in life is to become a doctor. At present I am pained to see the doctors. They have no love for their suffering patients. They are after money. They prefer to work in big hospitals or big cities. Very few of them are willing to go to villages. Most of our villages are without even a single doctor. People living in these villages suffer from many diseases. Many of them die for want of medical aid. My first care as a doctor will be to serve in a village. I shall start a small clinic to some village. I shall work with missionary spirit. I shall give them the best medical treatment. I will not charge any fee from really poor patients. Such is my humble ambition. May God help me to realise it!
15. Good Manners:
Manners make a man. They should be observed in every walk of life. At home we should respect our elders and love our youngers. We should co-operate with each other in doing household work. We should entertain the guests who visit us. At school we should respect our teachers. We should not make a mischief in the class. We should maintain discipline. We should be helpful to those students who are weak. We should treat all as equals. If we are in a company, we should talk less and listen more. We should not hurt the feelings of others. Whenever somebody does us a favour, we should use the words ‘please' and ‘thank you'. Good manners cost nothing, but win everything.
16. An Evening in a Park:
A city park is a place where people of all sorts come to inhale fresh air in the morning as well as in the evening. These are the lungs of the society. It is a place where people take exercises and children play. The evening in a park is all the more pleasant when there is a great hustle and bustle. An election scene is full of thrill and excitement. It presents an interesting sight. Last Sunday it was a polling day for the State Assembly. Our school was one of the polling stations Though I was not a voter yet I went there. I saw long queues of voters. There were tents of different candidates. Their supporters and agents were busy, canvassing. The voters came to the polling station in different vehicles. Each voter had a small chit in his hand showing his number in the voter-list. As soon as he reached the polling booth, the polling clerk put a mark with an indelible ink on his left finger. After that he went behind a curtain where the voting machine was lying. There he pressed the button against the name of the candidate whom he wanted to vote. Voting was done in strict secrecy. There was a lot of hustle and bustle. The candidates and their supporters seemed to be suffering from election fever. The whole place was noisy and crowded.

Once I was travelling from Srinagar in Garhwal to Haridwar. When we had hardly travelled about 20 kilometres, our bus fell into a khud about 200 below, For sometime everything was lost to us. When I regained my senses, I saw a ghastly scene around me. I saw human limbs scattered for metres. Some faces had been mutilated beyond recognition. I saw a mother with her child still clinging to her breast lying dead. I also saw a newly married couple lying dead, still hold the hands of each other. I shuddered and shuddered. Fortunately, I went unhurt. I thanked my stars.

You can buy different kinds of clothes, readymade garments, shoes, toys, hand-bags, purse, suitcases etc. at very cheap rates. But goods sold here are often of inferior quality. The rates are so cheap and attractive that there is a great rush of customers. Due to rush of customers the shop-keepers are unable to watch their goods. They are often robbed and cheated by the customers. Shop-keepers selling wares of ladies Interests, have a roaring trade. It is like a big fair.
23. A Rainy Day:
A rainy day in summer is a great blessing. Last year the summer in Delhi was unusually hot. Hot winds continually blew from morning till evening. Nights, too were close and stuffy. Hopeful eyes fixed at the sky prayed to the gods to have pity. The gods perhaps did listen and on the 18th of June, some clouds were seen gathering in the sky. There was joy all around. It started pouring soon. The showers came as great relief to the perspiring persons. Very soon there was knee-deep water everywhere. Old and young played and bathed in the rain. Mangoes were readily in demand. When the rain stopped, there was a rainbow in the sky. Heat was gone. All enjoyed a sound sleep at night.
24. A Hot Summer Day:
In Delhi summer is very hot. June and July are the hottest months of summer season. The sun shines brightly and the scorching heat is unbearable. Last year we experienced the hot waves. It was twenty fifth of June. People tried to remain inside the houses under the fan or cooler. They took shelter in the dark room. The farmers stopped their work and lay down under the trees. The afternoon was the hottest part of the day. People were perspiring from head to foot. Birds took shelter in the trees. Dogs could be seen with their tongues panting for breath. It was very close and stuffy. The streets and the bazaars looked deserted. The sun was shining and there was no relief. The night was also hot. People rolled in bed to have a wink of their eyes. But they could not sleep till mid-night. It was after two that we had a little sleep.
25. The Season I like:
India is rich in every aspect. She has a cycle of seasons. Four of them are important for all of us. They are autumn, spring, summer and winter. I like the spring most as it is the king of seasons. One cannot find a single cloud in the sky. in this season, there is neither hot nor cold. It is the pleasant season. Everything is fresh and beautiful. The trees put forth new leaves and greenery surrounds everywhere. Our mother earth wears a new look. Chirping of birds enlivens our hearts. The fruits are ripened. The spring season gives a soothing effect on our mind and body. Flowers bloom and give out fresh fragrance. The bees are busy in collecting nectar. During this season, pleasant sunny days have their own charm.
26. Pollution:
We are living in an age of pollution. Everything around us is polluted. The air we breathe in, the food we eat, the water we drink, all are polluted. But the most dangerous type of pollution today is environmental pollution. This is the worst danger that man faces today. Scientists and biologists have listed the dangers of environmental pollution. The fall out from nuclear testing can increase the Incidence of cancer. The wide spread use of insecticides and nitrogen fertilizers has contaminated food and surface water. The increasing use of synthetic detergents has contaminated water supplies. Thus environmental pollution has endangered the every existence of all forms of lives including that of man.

These are our best guides and honest friends. The best experiences of great academicians scholars, scientists and the men of genius are transferred to us only through books. If we develop a good taste for reading books, we can bring a commendable change in our life style. The books provide a better fodder to our soul and training to our mind. We can make proper use of our leisure. We become wise. intelligent and thoughtful. Let us resort to books to widen our horizons.

" Julti Bahuen Karen Pukar
Band Karo Yeh Atyachar"
Everyday we hear that a beautiful bride is burnt for the sake of dowry. Newspaper reports are full of such ghastly incidents. Fie on us if we go on burning our brides like this. A good life partner is a great dowry by itself. But today dowry is considered more important than the girl. It has become a social evil. It has ruined many happy homes. Many homes are broken homes because of this curse. Many girls commit suicide to save their parents from the evils of dowry. We, the educated people must wage a war against this evil. We ourselves must not accept it at any cost. If others demand dowry, we should socially boycott them.
29. The Importance of Family Planning:
Family Planning Programme in our country is aimed at checking the rapidly increasing population. Parents are advised to have two children, whether boys or girls. A small family has less problems. Hence it is always a happy family. The parents are able to provide better care to their children. The government has initiated a number of programmes aimed at providing better care to small families. Once the family planning programme becomes successful many problems like unemployment. over-population, environmental pollution will be solved.
30. A Small Family is a Happy Family:
There was a time when people were proud of having large families. But things are changed now. People are beginning to realise that a large family poses many problems not only to the children and parents, but also to the nation. When there are many children to look after, parents just cannot look to their basic needs. As a result, the children suffer, the parents suffer, and the nation suffers. Therefore family planning is essential Parents can look after their children properly if they have two or three children. They can pay due attention to their upbringing and education.
