MEANING:- Consumer Protection mean protecting the interest of consumers. The producer should produce goods keeping in mind the requirements of consumers and satisfy the consumer. 
Some businessmen are involved in the unfair practices such as supply of substandard quality, adulteration etc. So there is need for consumer protection.

IMPORTANCE OF CONSUMER PROTECTION:-

Consumer Protection provides information to ignorant customer regarding rights and remedies available to them.
Consumer Protection provides safeguard to o consumers from exploitation which is done by businesmen. 
 Consumer Protection guides businessmen to provide social responsibilities.
 The businessmen who ignore the interest and satisfaction of customers lose their goodwill and clients. So it is in interest of business itself to keep its customers satisfied.
 Businessmen are merely trustee of resources, they must use these resources for the benefits of consumers. 

CONSUMER RIGHTS:- 

1-Right To Safety: According to this right the consumers have the right to be protected against the marketing of goods and services which are hazardous to life and property.

2- Right to Information: According to this right the consumer has the right to get information about the quality, quantity, purity and price of goods and services.

3- Right to make Choice: According to this right every consumer has right to choose goods and services of his or her likings.

4- Right to be Heard or Right to Represenation: According to this right the consumer has the right to represent himself or to be Heard or right to advocate his interest.

5- Right to Seek Redressal: According to this right the consumer has right to get compensation or seek redressal against unfair trade practices or any other exploitation.

6- Right to Consumer Education: 
According to this right it is the right of the consumer to acquire the knowledge and skills to be informed to customers.

CONSUMER'S RESPONSIBILITIES:-

1- Respect the environment, avoid waste contribution to pollution.

2- The consumer must select the product according to his preferences, he must file a complaint if he is not satisfied with the quality of products.

3- The consumer should not blindly believe on the words of seller.

4- Be aware of variety of goods and services available in market.

5- To file a complaint and get compensation Consumer must ask for cash memo.
